Brian Comeno (Drums) I moved to Las Vegas in
1984 from North Judson, Indiana. I met my fiance, Cindy
Spence, in 1996. Together we decided that we wanted to serve our Lord thru
music and talked to several people to start a group. The band today is
known as "Grateful" and we have a wonderful time worshiping God in all the
different settings that we have been invited to serve in.
Albert Weiss (Guitar) I play acoustic and electric guitar
with Grateful, as well as some vocals. A member of Grateful since its beginning,
I have seen this group progress a long way both musically and spiritually. I am
originally from South Bend, Indiana, a graduate of Valparaiso University. In
addition to Grateful, I co-direct the Las Vegas Gamble-Aires barbershop chorus
and have sung in a number of quartets. When I am not busy with music or my
home chuch, I enjoy biking, playing cards with friends, games and traveling with
my wife Michelle (below). I've listened to contemporary Christian music since
it's conception, and it is a wonderful thing to be able to play this music and
bring the message of God to others.
Cindy Spence (Keyboard) A native Iowan, I moved to Las
Vegas 19 years ago. Growing up in a traditional Lutheran environment, I was
not familiar with contemporary Christian music until I started listening to
Air 1 about 10 years ago. Now my radio never changes from the
station! I have been fortunate enough to be with the group
since its beginnings, and am blessed to be a part of a group
which shares God's message through music.
Michelle Weiss (Flute & Vocals) I play flute and sing
back up vocals for Grateful. Although I've been associated with the group since
its inception, at the beginning I stayed in the background assisting with the
technical functions and writing dramas for the group to perform during their
praise services. I have lived in Las Vegas for almost 16 years with my
husband Albert (see above) and our cairn terrier, Rosie. Originally from Buffalo
NY, I graduated from Valparaiso University with a degree in music education. I
have been performing in various capacities for over 25 years. Other than music,
I enjoy reading, puzzles, playing cards with friends and traveling. It is such a
pleasure to be part of Grateful. We are a family of very different people that
come together to worship God through our musical talents. We enjoy outreach
projects in our community and its churches.
Heidi Schneiter (Vocalist) A native Wisconsin, I have
been active in church worship teams for many years. My husband Steve is the
band's sound technician and Morgan and Hunter, our two children, help out as
roadies.
Marty Harpster (Guitar)
I joined Grateful in the summer of 2007, and I play electric and acoustic
rhythm guitar. My wife Mary and I moved to Las Vegas in 2001 from Coeur d’
Alene, Idaho. When we found a church home in Summerlin soon after moving,
I began playing with its Praise Team and truly enjoyed helping with the praise
and worship of the services. Grateful visited our church one weekend, and
I was impressed with their spirit and musicianship. It has truly been a
blessing to be asked to join their musical family and continue contributing to
our ministry. I’m also involved with the Light in the Desert Via de
Christo movement in Las Vegas, which provides weekend spiritual retreats for
individuals and couples seeking closer relationships with Jesus Christ.
Todd Rush
(Bass)
I am
the newest member of Grateful. My wife Iris and I have lived in Las
Vegas since1985. We have been attending
Community
Lutheran Church that whole time. I played in the
Praise Team for its mission church and sang in its choir. I was asked to play in
Grateful by Marty Harpster after working with him on a 3 day weekend ministry
event. It was truly a “God” wink to be asked to join Grateful. I also am
involved with the Light in the Desert Via de Cristo movement in Las Vegas, which provides
weekend spiritual retreats for individuals and couples seeking closer
relationships with Jesus Christ. What a blessing both of these ministries bring
to me.
